    The Internet Governance Forum aims to legitimize suppression of free speech

    The Minsk Internet Governance Forum is scheduled for mid-November. It used to be open to all market players, but now only serves to create an illusion of normalcy and validate repression. Belarusian Association of Journalists, Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Human Constanta, and other activists have issued a statement denouncing the forum.

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya assures she will persist in seeking support for Belarusian independent media and claims negotiations with YouTube advance significantly

    On 9 November, the Belarusian democratic leader shared that Belarusians have numerous allies in the global community and she will continue to ask for aid in endorsing independent media. This announcement was made during a seminar held in Vilnius that promotes freedom of the Belarusian press. The event was organized by the embassies of Finland, Ireland, and Norway in Lithuania. The day before, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a meeting with the head of YouTube in Europe. There is some great news for the Belarusian media and audience.

    In his final words, Mantsevich spoke of his well-known ancestors, his life-long dedication to the newspaper, and his civic duties. “I hear my ancestors’ voices, I have never betrayed my homeland. I love my fellow citizens and the country of Belarus. While imprisoned, I was unable to erect a monument on my father’s grave before the anniversary of his death.
